Hindi Songs | Veer (2010) (01/30/2010 12:01)
Veer throws a pleasant surprise. There were apprehensions galore (as explained eariler) but a couple of listening pretty much facilitates their dilution. Sajid-Wajid have indeed given their best three soundtracks ever in Veer and though they may have had managed chartbusters earlier, Veer is the kind of album that would fetch them a much deserving respect. Along with Gulzar they have created the kind of tunes that may not necessarily turn out to be the hugest chartbusters of the year but would certainly be remembered for time to come. From here on the album takes a turn for something even better with 'Surili Akhiyon Wale' coming next. A melodic romantic number that boasts of some heartfelt and never heard before lyrics (has anyone ever heard of 'ankhiyan' being 'surili'?), it is further elevated due to silky vocals of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. He sings 'Surili Akhiyon Wale' at a low pitch and in the process of doing so comes up with a rendition that would certainly make a mark for months to come. Sajid-Wajid take a complete departure from the kind of score they have made for films like Wanted and get into a classy scheme of things.

Hindi Songs | Chance Pe Dance (2010) (01/30/2010 11:45)
Chance Pe Dance is a good album that doesn't have a single bad/below average song and stays consistent for most of its duration. It does experiment with a song or two but doesn't veer away from giving all segments of listeners something to cheer about it. This is why other than a couple of fabulous dance numbers (Pe..Pe..Pepein..., Just Do It), there are also love songs (Pal Mein Hi, Rishta Hai Mera) that keep the balance on. Listen to this one, you won't be disappointed. Even though Chance Pe Dance is an Adnan Sami album all the way, it is guest composer Pritam's 'Pe..Pe..Pepein...' which turns out to be the opening track. Written by Kumaar, who of late has been collaborating with Pritam on quite a few songs, 'Pe..Pe..Pepein...' has exactly the same hook that was last evidenced in 'Oh By God' [Ajab Prem Ki Ajab Kahani]. Though the song hadn't featured in the film, Pritam was obviously attached to the hook (based on the quintessential 'shehnai' tune that is heard in marriages) and put it to good use in 'Pe..Pe..Pepein...'. The results are expectedly fabulous as the song turns out to be far better than 'Oh By God'. With Neeraj Sridhar, Hard Kaur and Saleem Shehzada bringing in the kind of attitude which is just suited for a song belonging to this genre, 'Pe..Pe..Pepein...' (which later also arrives in a much welcome 'remix version') turns out to be a true dance number which is not just a chartbuster from the word 'Go' but is also all set to get further popular once it's music video is out.

Hindi Songs | Pyaar Impossible (2010) (01/29/2010 01:32)
Due to its situational feel, one can't be expecting mega popularity for the album here. However, if one understands the intent of the album, the songs have been pretty much made to facilitate the album's narrative rather than being chartbusters that would get audiences in theaters. In this aspect, Salim-Sulaiman create a good situational album that may well drive the narrative rather than just fitting into it. Anushka Manchanda is so effective in the way she begins 'Alisha' that one can almost sense Priyanka Chopra to be behind the mike. There is this husky feel about her rendition which brings in a certain attitude to the entire 5 minutes track. In fact Anushka is quite good in this Westernised track (later also appearing in a 'remix version') where she not just changes the pitch a couple of times but also brings in a different tone to her voice. Moreover, Salim Merchant too does a good job in coming behind the mike intermittently and brings on the key words Pyaar Impossible. A good situational track that could well have been a Vishal-Shekhar composition.

Hindi Songs | Dulha Mil Gaya (2010) (01/29/2010 01:16)
Not all songs in Dulha Mil Gaya make an equal impact with a couple of them turning out to be plain average. However, to the credit of Lalit Pandit, there isn't any bad song per se with title song 'Dulha Mil Gaya', qawalli 'Dilrubaon Ke Jalwe' and Pritam's 'Shiri Farhad' coming up trumps with a situational 'Aaja Aaja Mera Ranjhna' being a decent hear. Dulha Mil Gaya is a happy album with a celebration feel to it, something that goes with the film's story and setting. This one is a voluminous album and the first track to come is 'Akela Dil' that has a groove similar to that of 'Gela Gela Dil Gela Gela' (Aitraaz). An unmistakable calypso rhythm is on the fore front here too, given the fact that the film is set in the Caribbean. Adnan Sami gets into an intoxicated and relaxed mood as per the demand of the situation and gets his own lazy style in place to sing 'Akela Dil' that has Anushka Manchanda giving able support. This is a kind of track that should add on to the visual appeal of the film. It's 'remix version' adds on the zing and should find a place in the clubs and discotheques.

Hindi Songs | Rocket Singh - Salesman Of The Year (2009) (01/29/2010 12:57)
Rocket Singh... is a nice album which has been surprisingly not promoted at all. Worse, the songs have been made available just days before the release of the film. Though the marketing team of Yash Raj Films may have their own good reasons to do that, the fact remains that for a movie starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead; it truly leaves one perplexed about this decision. This is why in spite of some decent to good tracks, Rocket Singh... will hardly fetch any sales figures for itself. Ironical, because the lead protagonist of the film is being touted to be the 'salesman of the year'! 'Pocket Me Rocket' - Now that's one real interesting way to come up with a song's title. Benny Dayal sings this track which follows Salim-Sulaiman's sensibilities to the T, if one recollects the kind of funky background score they have given to quite a few albums. With a mix of English and Hindi lyrics, the song tells the story of a salesman who has his task cut out to fetch excellent sales figures for himself. Expect the track to play at number of junctures in the narrative and also make an impression. Though audio wise it isn't the kind of track that you would end up singing in entirety, it's the hook that stays on with you for hours at stretch.

Hindi Songs | Paa (2009) (01/03/2010 07:57)
Paa is a film with an unusual story and music maestro Ilayaraja has composed tunes that gel well with the movie's subject. Director R. Balakrishnan's film stars Amitabh Bachchan as Abhishek's son Auro, who suffers from progeria that causes premature ageing. It also stars Vidya Balan. The album begins with Mudhi mudhi ittefaq se. Crooned by Shilpa Rao, it has an instant connect. It is melodious but not very long. The song is currently doing the rounds on television channels and has become a hit. Mudhi mudhi ittefaq se has two more versions - Udhi udhi, an extension of the original and "Gali mudhi" that has vocals by Shaan. It is slower in pace but equally nice.

Hindi Songs | 3 Idiots (2009) (01/03/2010 07:40)
3 Idiots is a good quality album that has two super strong tracks - 'Aal Izz Well' and 'Jaane Nahin Denge Tujhe'. Both are poles apart though because while former is for mass audiences, latter should find a perfect placement in the film's narrative. 'Zoobi Doobi' is nice while 'Behti Hawa' and 'Give Me Some Sunshine' would be known more after the film's release. Immense curiosity value around '3 Idiots' would ensure that in the initial days, the album disappears quite quickly from the music stands. After that, it would be the strength of the film and its run at the box office that would do the talking for the album as well. Just like it's predecessor, 'Give Me Some Sunshine' too has a slow beginning with Sharman Joshi narrating a line about youth being allowed to live life the way they want. Soon after Suraj Jagan starts singing this track about how kids are deprived of their innocence in the world of education that dictates what they should be doing rather than them making a choice. Meanwhile, Sharman keeps interspersing the song with anecdotes from the childhood (experimenting with chemistry, forced to get 99% marks etc...). Yet another campus track, though softer in mode and tone this time around, the song has its high point every time the line 'Give Me Some Sunshine' comes on the forefront.

Hindi Songs | De Dana Dan (2009) (12/12/2009 04:14)
In the recent times, there have been quite some quality musical scores like Kurbaan, Tum Mile, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Radio that have managed to make an impact. Most of these have a classy feel to it. In comparison, De Dana Dan has a massy feel to it with numbers like 'Paisa' and title song making a good impression. 'Baamulaiza' and 'Hotty Naughty' don't have a much future though beyond the film's run in theatres. However, if there is a track that would be remembered at least for a few more months to come, it would be 'Rishte Naate'. There is a very pleasant surprise in store though at the very beginning of the album with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan coming up with an extremely likeable 'Rishte Naate'. A beautiful love song which is set in a mould similar to that of 'Teri Ore' [Singh Is Kinng], 'Rishte Naate' is also elevated further due to some very good writing by Sayeed Quadri. The combination works perfectly well with English rendition by Suzanne Demello being an icing on the cake. The song's remix makes for a good club outing as well with Kunal Ganjawala replacing Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for this version and still giving a good account of himself. It is surprising that such a beautiful sounding track is being released so late in the day when the film is a mere 20 days away from release.

Hindi Songs | Aao Wish Karein (2009) (12/12/2009 03:54)
As stated earlier, it is apparent that the makers of Aao Wish Karein didn't quite have a chartbuster musical in mind when they came together to make music for the film. This is why the mood of the album remains situational for most part of it. Though none of the songs are bad per se, there isn't a hit quality to them either that would make the album sell like hot cakes. Hear it for some soulful moments in 'Kuch Aisa' and 'Sabse Peeche Hum Khade'.
Beginning of Aao Wish Karein is surprising though with 'Sabse Peeche Hum Khade' kick starting the proceedings. This is the same song that Mohit Chauhan had sung and had featured in the film Let's Enjoy. This time around it is Kunal Ganjawala who comes behind the mike for this melodious track that has an old world charm to it. Since the song has been heard over all these years, there is an instant recall value and it doesn't take much time to hum this Ankur Tewari written and composed number all over again. Later, Kunal Ganjawala comes up with a much slower 'reprise version'. Sunidhi Chauhan brings on the spunk with a livelier version titled 'Sabse Peeche Kyon Khade'. Lyrics are different this time around and are told from the female protagonist's point of view where she gets into a conversational mode with the guy.

Hindi Songs | Kurbaan (2009) (12/08/2009 06:34)
Kurbaan is a quality album all the way and clearly the best that Salim & Sulaiman have offered since Fashion. A difficult album to compose considering the kind of theme that the film comes with, Kurbaan boasts of the kind of sound that is consistent throughout. While quite a few tracks would be noticed more after the release of the film, there are songs like 'Shukran Allah' and 'Kurbaan Hua' that would make sure that Kurbaan makes a good head start at the music stands. It's a tremendous start to the album, what with Salim Merchant coming behind the mike to open 'Shukran Allah' in a manner similar to that of Kailash Kher crooning of 'Subhan Allah' [Fanaa]. Within seconds, Sonu Nigam takes over and you instantly know why he is simply the best that we have today when it comes to crooning melodious romantic tracks. His trademark silky voice is at play once again in this beautifully composed number which easily finds a place at the top of romantic numbers composed by Salim-Sulaiman. If the 'mukhda' is impressive then watch out for the 'antara' - it proves once again why Indian melody can never ever be out of vogue. Shreya Ghoshal joins the scene three and a half minutes into 'Shukran Allah' and makes an instant impact. This is one song that would be played for a long-long time and is easily one of the best that we have heard this year.

Hindi Songs | Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009) (12/08/2009 06:23)
This is Pritam's year. Period. Delivering chartbusters by dozens all through the year, he can now look forward to another bountiful of hit songs up his sleeves with Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. Also, Ranbir and Katrina can enjoy a hugely popular track for themselves in the form of 'Main Tera Dhadkan Teri'. Go, pick this one up from the shelves! Melody returns to the album soon after with Atif Aslam coming together with Alisha Chenoy for 'Tera Hone Laga Hoon'. Written by guest lyricist Ashish Pandit (who does spin a nice romantic tale), this one is a love song that takes one straight to the hills and the trees. A kind of love song that has time and again worked, 'Tera Hone Laha Hoon' has both the singers coming together with some heartfelt rendition that makes it a kind of hear that is quite comfortable on ears. Thankfully, the 'remix version' doesn't go overboard either and keeps the spirit of melody intact.

Hindi Songs | Jail (2009) (12/08/2009 05:56)
Jail won't quite go the whole distance like Fashion which actually had music as an integral part of the narrative and also boasted of more than a couple of chartbuster tracks. However, it does have some decent songs with 'Sainya Ve' boasting of popular appeal and 'Daata Sun Le' keeping those happy who are fans of Lata Mangeshkar and followers of devotional tracks. Lastly arrives Lata Mangeshkar's 'Daata Sun Le' which is set in the same mode as 'Itni Shakti Hamein Dena Daata' [Ankush]. Seemingly set in a jail with inmates coming together and praying, 'Daata Sun Le' moves at an extremely slow pace, something which suits the genre that it belongs. What amazes though is to hear the 80 year old singer getting the right pitch at various junctures even at this age. No wonder, composer Shamir Tandon doesn't allow many instruments in the background and let's the vocals hold centre-stage.

Hindi Songs | Aladin (2009) (12/08/2009 05:27)
Aladin would have been a difficult album to compose since it doesn't quite fall under the bracket of a regular love story or a rom-com or a period film. Due to this reason, don't expect another Jhankaar Beats or an Om Shanti Om or a Dostana. For a film that has an element of fantasy and myth interspersed in the contemporary times, Sujoy along with Vishal-Shekhar bring together certain situational songs (Tak Dhina Dhin, O Re Saawariya, Bachke O Bachke) along with a couple of theme songs (Genie Rap, Giri Giri) and an out and out romantic number (You May Be). The thought is dispelled soon after though as the composer duo gets one of the most romantic numbers of the year in the form of 'You May Be'. A lovely melodious track which makes one just stop all work and just concentrate on the beauty of lyrics, music as well as rendition, 'You May Be' is a mix of English and Hindi. This is one contemporary urban love song that remains consistent from the 'mukhda' through the 'antaras' and makes one place it in the repeat mode. For the first time ever, both Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani come behind the mike for the same song and the impact created by their joint outing is just magical. Pick this one up and play it on for the one you love!

Hindi Songs | Love Aaj Kal (2009) (12/07/2009 03:23)
It sounds too good to be true but Pritam seems to have kept all his brilliant compositions on hold between Jab We Met and Love Aaj Kal. Yes, he has had quite a few good albums in the form of Race, Jannat, Singh Is Kinng and Kismat Konnection in the interim as well but his attachment of Imtiaz and his film is visible in the compositions of Love Aaj Kal. It is not everyday that each and every song turns out to be extremely good in an album but that's indeed the case with Love Aaj Kal. This one is going to be unstoppable once it hits the stands! Love Aaj Kal continues to be unstoppable as it comes up with yet another gem - 'Ajj Din Chadheya'. With Rahat Fateh Ali Khan at the helm of affairs and Irshad Kamil spinning his words well yet again, the song has melody as its forte and doesn't bear any Western influence whatsoever. Bringing on further variety in the album, 'Ajj Din Chadheya' has an old world charm to it that makes it difficult to put the album down. A number that is bound to work quite well in aiding the narrative of Love Aaj Kal while being played in the background, the song is about the protagonist asking God for getting the love of his life.

Hindi Songs | Kambakkht Ishq (2009) (12/07/2009 02:05)
Kambakkht Ishq delivers what it promised at the very onset. A 'masala' outing was very much in the offering and that is ensured by means of 'Om Mangalam' and title song 'Kambakkht Ishq'. Meanwhile, there is also some nice little surprise in place in the form of 'Kyun' and 'Bebo' that make the album a satisfying affair. As is the case with majority of Akshay Kumar movies, Kambakkht Ishq too has a special song by a guest composer and this is evidenced in the form of 'Om Mangalam' which is composed and performed by RDB with the 'shlok' portion being created by Anu Malik himself. A number which is already en route to be a chartbuster in less than a week of promotion, 'Om Mangalam' is a title song in itself as it has words Kambakkht Ishq being repeated throughout it's four and a half minutes duration.

Hindi Songs | London Dreams (2009) (12/07/2009 01:09)
First things first - The music of London Dreams requires not one, not two, not three but at least five odd listening before it starts growing on you. At first instance the music seems to be going all over, especially due to the fact that most of the tunes are plain unconventional and nothing that one has heard in a mainstream Bollywood film before. By the second instance one starts wondering if the expectations were really worth it as you aspire for something more comfortable and easy on ears in terms of recollection value. For those who were missing the kind of trademark compositions that Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are known for, there is 'Khwab Jo'. A serene track that gets into the dynamics of a 'khwab' and how, when, why and where is it actually a 'khwab' and not a 'haqeeqat', 'Khwab Jo' by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shankar Mahadevan is an out and out poetic track by Prasoon Joshi. One wonders the kind of pain that Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy must have gone through in order to spin a tune around the lyrics. A smooth moving number that has a melodic base to it, 'Khwab Jo' sees the fusion of Indian classical with soft rock that becomes more and more apparent as one reaches the song's end.

Hindi Songs | Tum Mile (2009) (12/06/2009 03:20)
2009 is clearly Pritam's year. If he has enjoyed the biggest musical success in the form of Love Aaj Kal then he has also seen a steady success run of New York. If at the beginning of the year he gave multiple item hits in Billu then he has also got some pure and fresh music in place for Tum Mile. In between he has found some good tunes rolling for All The Best and Dil Bole Hadippa too, which re-establishes the fact that he is clearly THE most prolific hit-maker that we have in Bollywood today. This is what he proves yet again with Tum Mile where he gives Bhatts their very own Life In A Metro to be preserved and relished for years to come. The signature tune that is currently being heard along with the promos of Tum Mile kick starts 'Tu Hi Haqeeqat', which is yet another solo, this time Javed Ali at the helm of affairs. By this time, one realizes that the album is made of all-male singers. In fact this could well be the first ever instance for the music of a film with romance as it's strong point not to be featuring any female voice at all. Coming back to 'Tu Hi Haqeeqat', it is not as strong as the title song or 'Dil Ibaadat' but that's purely on a comparative scale. Rendered by Javed Ali, this one has a core Indian feel to it and is the easiest tune to grasp. Perhaps this is the very reason one looks forward to the songs that follow since in Tum Mile one doesn't expect Pritam to churn out a conventional Bollywood tune.

Hindi Songs | Blue (2009) (12/06/2009 02:43)
Blue is a good album and has all in it to make a good impression at the music stands. In a way, the album comes at just the right time when there is quite some variety in store this Diwali. While All The Best has a rock base to it and Main Aur Mrs. Khanna boasts of a melodic outing, Blue practically mixes up genres and ensures at least four popular songs in 'Fiqrana', 'Chiggy Wiggy', 'Yaar Mila Tha' and 'Aaj Dil'. The most awaited song of the year, 'Chiggy Wiggy', marks the beginning of the album. Why most awaited? Because it not only has Kylie Minogue singing a song for a Bollywood film but has her making a dance appearance while shaking a leg with Akshay Kumar. During the shooting of the song there was quite some frenzy created about her arrival in Mumbai. No wonder one expects nothing but outstanding in Abbas Tyrewala written 'Chiggy Wiggy'.

Hindi Songs | All The Best (2009) (12/06/2009 02:13)
One expected a decent time pass score for All The Best which would make an instant impression and ensure that audiences are entertained as they play on screen. For this purpose, Pritam does compose songs like 'Dil Kare', 'All The Best' and 'You Are My Love'. However, there is a pleasant surprise in store with '... Martaba' and 'Kyon' turning out to be two of the purest compositions by Pritam and Kumaar that bring in further quality to this album. Drum beats mark the beginning of 'Dil Kare' that have the cry of All The Best creating the much required rhythm all throughout the song's duration. A number that is set exactly in the manner of 'Socha Hai' [Rock On], whether lyrically, musically or thematically, 'Dil Kare' is a heavy duty rock track that is mounted on a really lavish scale. Suraj Jagan is a good choice for a number like this though one feels that K.K. at the helm of affairs would have further added zing to 'Dil Kare'. Roopam Islam is there as a backup vocalist in the opening number of this album that gets into top gear from the very onset and also gives it a euphoric ending with a high voltage 'remix version'. Expect the track to make it to the DJ's list in a matter of few days from now.

Hindi Songs | Main Aurr Mrs Khanna (2009) (10/22/2009 05:11)
Main Aur Mrs. Khanna is a satisfying affair and you don't have any reasons to complain whatsoever. One expected at least a couple of chartbuster songs and Main Aur Mrs. Khanna remains consistent throughout with not a single number that doesn't work. The best of the lot though is 'Don't Say Alvida' followed by 'Tum Ne Socha' that are custom made for the romantic hearts. Meanwhile, 'Happening' should take further care of the album sales. 10 seconds into the song 'Don't Say Alvida' and you know for sure that Sajid-Wajid have a hit in hand at least in the form of this title track. Belonging to old school of music which has a timeless quality to it and has more often than not always worked, 'Don't Say Alvida' is a contemporary Bollywood love song while boasting of an out and out Indian melody. Coming close to the kind of music that one has heard in Salman's films like Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega and Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, 'Don't Say Alvida' has Sonu Nigam at his best. The singer is heard in lesser number these days but when he croons a marvelous track like 'Don't Say Alvida', you don't mind the quantity. Shreya Ghoshal joins a little later in the day while Suzanne D'Mello is primarily a backup vocalist here. Still, they do make their presence felt in this Junaid Wasi written song that also appears in a well done 'remix' version and also a 90 seconds slow-n-sad version (a Shreya Ghoshal solo).

Hindi Songs | Radio - (2009) (10/22/2009 04:49)
Radio, in one word, is 'brilliant'. In three words, it can be described as 'Himesh is Back'. And in one sentence, it would be right to say that 'Himesh creates something that what he is capable of doing so'. One wonders whether he too was aware of this fact that he had it in him to compose and sing songs like 'Janeman', 'Piya Jaise', 'Shaam Ho Chali Hai' and 'Koi Na Koi', all in one single album. He makes a huge impression with Radio that is sure to hit the top spot in the charts in quick time. Strongly recommended! A much sober and subdued Himesh is heard in 'Mann Ka Radio', the opening track of the film. In the first listening, all one ends up focusing is on lyrics that go as 'Mann Ka Radio'. Frankly, it's hard to digest. However, as one gives the number a few repeat hearing, it's the music and the singing (in Himesh's new voice) that takes centre stage. What further impresses is the overall soft mood of the song that does the trick. Once the song reaches it's 'antra' portion, one gets to hear a little of Himesh in his vintage style as well. The 'remix version' only elevates the song further as it heads straight for the club. A good beginning.

Hindi Songs | Do Knot Disturb (2009) (10/22/2009 04:21)
David Dhawan. Govinda, Vashu Bhagnani. Sushmita Sen. This combination, in various permutations and combinations, has time and again succeeded at the box office with a truly mass appeal working for it. Add to that some young blood in the form of Riteish Deshmukh, Lara Dutta and Sohail Khan and you know that Do Knot Disturb has been designed as a youthful entertainer. And then bring back Nadeem Shravan along with Sameer and expectations are bound to be quite high. Last film for which they composed music was Dosti - Friends Forever which was four years back. Hence, one plays on this Nadeem-Sharavan album with bated breath. With the very first note of Do Knot Disturb coming into play, one knows there and then that Nadeem Shravan have left behind their sound of the 90s (which had in fact given a new dimension to the way Bollywood music was created then) and made what the doctors had ordered. Doctors in this case being David Dhawan, Govinda and Vashu Bhagnani. That's because 'Zulfaen Khol Khal Ke' belongs more to Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Gharwali Baharwali and Biwi No. 1 mode than an Aashiqui or a Dil Hai Maanta Nahi.

Hindi Songs | Vaada Raha... I Promise (2009) (10/09/2009 07:50)
There is a pleasant surprise in store though with the opening number turning out to be quite a serene outing. 'Kubul' is a quintessential love song with that 'vaadiyan' and 'bahaar' outing and one doesn't mind that at all. In fact as you listen to it a couple of times, it starts playing in your mind for a time much longer than the song's duration. A beautiful melody by Monty that stays Indian throughout its five minutes duration, it also boasts of some heartfelt rendition by Parthiv Gohil, Sharmista Chateerjee and Shell Hada. A good beginning that suddenly makes one get interested in the album. One starts looking at the album with a different perspective the moment title song Vaada Raha hits its first notes. Composed by Toshi-Sharib who have composed some very good songs for Bhatts' Jashnn and Raaz - The Mystery Continues in the recent past, Vaada Raha is in fact one of their best. This Turaz written track stays on within the Bollywood parameters of a love song and still comes out trumps. Now if only this film would have been a fresh project, would have been adequately promoted and boasted of a true blue romantic jodi on screen, Vaada Raha, which is excellently sung by Toshi and boasts of some really good chorus in the background, would have gone a far distance. In fact this is one of those songs that one looks forward to hearing a countless number of times in the album and hence don't mind it all when it reappears in a 'remix version' and also a Sanjoy Chowdhury composed 'theme version'.

Hindi Songs | What's Your Raashee (2009) (10/09/2009 07:22)
Music of What's Your Raashee? is quite interestingly done. For the first time in the history of Bollywood cinema (and perhaps even internationally), a song has been created for each of the 12 characters (played by Priyanka Chopra) that are differentiated by sun signs. First to come is the title song What's Your Raashee? 'Pal Pal Dil Jisko Dhoonde'. A number with a jazz setting to it, 'Pal Pal' sees Sohail Sen coming behind the mike himself and he does a fabulous job in going along with the mood and setting of the song. Boasting of a lazy flow that gives the album just the right kick start, the song is about the lead protagonist (Harman) searching for that one girl who fits in the kind of image that he is carrying in his heart.

Hindi Songs | Wake Up Sid (2009) (10/09/2009 06:48)
The moment one hears the sound of guitar with Shankar Mahadevan appearing behind the mike with some soft rendition, you know that you are entering a youthful zone. Add to that the gradual built up that the composer trio brings to the title song 'Wake Up Sid' and you know for sure that it's the sound of Dil Chahta Hai revisited. Does one mind that? Not at all, especially so with Loy Mendonsa's back up vocals interspersed well to add zing through the catch words - Wake Up Sid! One would have thought that Shankar Mahadevan would have reserved the title song as the best in the album. However, there is a surprise in store with Clinton Cerejo bagging the best of the lot as he goes solo with 'Kya Karoon? '. A lively number that has 'youth appeal' written all over it, 'Kya Karoon? ' is urban and contemporary with the proceedings being innocent rather than taking an attitude route. A smooth sailing number that takes the listener through the mood of the protagonist who is still trying to explore his life, 'Kya Karoon? ' has Dominique Cerejo and Loy Mendonsa as the backup vocalists.

“Daddy Cool” is the first song of the movie which is sung by Raghav Sachar. Music of the song begins with instrument which is very slow. The song comes in voice as “Daddy… Daddy… Ha… Ankhiyon Me Jadoo Teri… Ada hai Palak Pe…” The song has great put-up of music. Daddy Cool music will give you a feeling of classical music, traditional music, western influence and instrumental music. There is sweet voice of flute music also. Hindi Songs | Agyaat (2009) (08/27/2009 11:17)
The soundtrack of Agyaat throws a pleasant surprise. While it certainly has a few situational tracks that are created for placement in the film's background ('Sun Sakte Ho', 'Na Koi', 'Jungle Jungle'), there is also a guaranteed chartbuster in the form of 'Kiss - Remix' with 'Jai Shiv Bum Shambu' promising to make some impression as well. A good soundtrack. What strikes immediately on looking at the inlay card is the coming together of singers who have hardly been exposed in Bollywood music earlier. Runa, Boony, Bhaven, Banjotsana, Vickeey B. Joshi, Bapi, Keka Ghoshal, Jankee, Imran - Ever heard of them? In fact the only recognizable name is that of Shweta Pandit! Nevertheless, talking about the songs here, the opening of Agyaat is as unconventional as it gets with Imran-Vikram churning out 'Jai Shiv Bum Shambu'. Written by Prashant Pandey, this one appears to be a bon fire number set in a Jungle with the entire cast coming together and partying. With a mix of Indian and Western treatment, 'Jai Shiv Bum Shambu' isn't your next anthem track in the making. However, listen to it a few times and you realise that for lounges and discotheques, this could well be an easy fodder for the DJs. Runa and Boony create a young mood for 'Jai Shiv... ' which sounds strange in the beginning but goes on to be quite addictive in some time. It's a surprise that the number doesn't find a 'remix version' for itself!
