2009 is clearly Pritam's year. If he has enjoyed the biggest musical success in the form of Love Aaj Kal then he has also seen a steady success run of New York. If at the beginning of the year he gave multiple item hits in Billu then he has also got some pure and fresh music in place for Tum Mile. In between he has found some good tunes rolling for All The Best and Dil Bole Hadippa too, which re-establishes the fact that he is clearly THE most prolific hit-maker that we have in Bollywood today. This is what he proves yet again with Tum Mile where he gives Bhatts their very own Life In A Metro to be preserved and relished for years to come. The signature tune that is currently being heard along with the promos of Tum Mile kick starts 'Tu Hi Haqeeqat', which is yet another solo, this time Javed Ali at the helm of affairs. By this time, one realizes that the album is made of all-male singers. In fact this could well be the first ever instance for the music of a film with romance as it's strong point not to be featuring any female voice at all. Coming back to 'Tu Hi Haqeeqat', it is not as strong as the title song or 'Dil Ibaadat' but that's purely on a comparative scale. Rendered by Javed Ali, this one has a core Indian feel to it and is the easiest tune to grasp. Blue is a good album and has all in it to make a good impression at the music stands. In a way, the album comes at just the right time when there is quite some variety in store this Diwali. While All The Best has a rock base to it and Main Aur Mrs. Khanna boasts of a melodic outing, Blue practically mixes up genres and ensures at least four popular songs in 'Fiqrana', 'Chiggy Wiggy', 'Yaar Mila Tha' and 'Aaj Dil'. The most awaited song of the year, 'Chiggy Wiggy', marks the beginning of the album. Why most awaited? Because it not only has Kylie Minogue singing a song for a Bollywood film but has her making a dance appearance while shaking a leg with Akshay Kumar. During the shooting of the song there was quite some frenzy created about her arrival in Mumbai. One expected a decent time pass score for All The Best which would make an instant impression and ensure that audiences are entertained as they play on screen. For this purpose, Pritam does compose songs like 'Dil Kare', 'All The Best' and 'You Are My Love'. However, there is a pleasant surprise in store with '... Martaba' and 'Kyon' turning out to be two of the purest compositions by Pritam and Kumaar that bring in further quality to this album. Drum beats mark the beginning of 'Dil Kare' that have the cry of All The Best creating the much required rhythm all throughout the song's duration. A number that is set exactly in the manner of 'Socha Hai' [Rock On], whether lyrically, musically or thematically, 'Dil Kare' is a heavy duty rock track that is mounted on a really lavish scale. Suraj Jagan is a good choice for a number like this though one feels that K.K. at the helm of affairs would have further added zing to 'Dil Kare'. Roopam Islam is there as a backup vocalist in the opening number of this album that gets into top gear from the very onset and also gives it a euphoric ending with a high voltage 'remix version'. - Main Aur Mrs. Khanna is a satisfying affair and you don't have any reasons to complain whatsoever. One expected at least a couple of chartbuster songs and Main Aur Mrs. Khanna remains consistent throughout with not a single number that doesn't work. The best of the lot though is 'Don't Say Alvida' followed by 'Tum Ne Socha' that are custom made for the romantic hearts. Meanwhile, 'Happening' should take further care of the album sales. 10 seconds into the song 'Don't Say Alvida' and you know for sure that Sajid-Wajid have a hit in hand at least in the form of this title track. Belonging to old school of music which has a timeless quality to it and has more often than not always worked, 'Don't Say Alvida' is a contemporary Bollywood love song while boasting of an out and out Indian melody. Coming close to the kind of music that one has heard in Salman's films like Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega and Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, 'Don't Say Alvida' has Sonu Nigam at his best. The singer is heard in lesser number these days but when he croons a marvelous track like 'Don't Say Alvida', you don't mind the quantity. Shreya Ghoshal joins a little later in the day while Suzanne D'Mello is primarily a backup vocalist here. Still, they do make their presence felt in this Junaid Wasi written song that also appears in a well done 'remix' version and also a 90 seconds slow-n-sad version (a Shreya Ghoshal solo).

Radio, in one word, is 'brilliant'. In three words, it can be described as 'Himesh is Back'. And in one sentence, it would be right to say that 'Himesh creates something that what he is capable of doing so'. One wonders whether he too was aware of this fact that he had it in him to compose and sing songs like 'Janeman', 'Piya Jaise', 'Shaam Ho Chali Hai' and 'Koi Na Koi', all in one single album. He makes a huge impression with Radio that is sure to hit the top spot in the charts in quick time. Strongly recommended! A much sober and subdued Himesh is heard in 'Mann Ka Radio', the opening track of the film. In the first listening, all one ends up focusing is on lyrics that go as 'Mann Ka Radio'. Frankly, it's hard to digest. However, as one gives the number a few repeat hearing, it's the music and the singing (in Himesh's new voice) that takes centre stage. What further impresses is the overall soft mood of the song that does the trick. Once the song reaches it's 'antra' portion, one gets to hear a little of Himesh in his vintage style as well. The 'remix version' only elevates the song further as it heads straight for the club. - David Dhawan. Govinda, Vashu Bhagnani. Sushmita Sen. This combination, in various permutations and combinations, has time and again succeeded at the box office with a truly mass appeal working for it. Add to that some young blood in the form of Riteish Deshmukh, Lara Dutta and Sohail Khan and you know that Do Knot Disturb has been designed as a youthful entertainer. And then bring back Nadeem Shravan along with Sameer and expectations are bound to be quite high. Last film for which they composed music was Dosti - Friends Forever which was four years back. Hence, one plays on this Nadeem-Sharavan album with bated breath. With the very first note of Do Knot Disturb coming into play, one knows there and then that Nadeem Shravan have left behind their sound of the 90s (which had in fact given a new dimension to the way Bollywood music was created then) and made what the doctors had ordered. Doctors in this case being David Dhawan, Govinda and Vashu Bhagnani. That's because 'Zulfaen Khol Khal Ke' belongs more to Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Gharwali Baharwali and Biwi No. 1 mode than an Aashiqui or a Dil Hai Maanta Nahi.

- There is a pleasant surprise in store though with the opening number turning out to be quite a serene outing. 'Kubul' is a quintessential love song with that 'vaadiyan' and 'bahaar' outing and one doesn't mind that at all. In fact as you listen to it a couple of times, it starts playing in your mind for a time much longer than the song's duration. A beautiful melody by Monty that stays Indian throughout its five minutes duration, it also boasts of some heartfelt rendition by Parthiv Gohil, Sharmista Chateerjee and Shell Hada. A good beginning that suddenly makes one get interested in the album. One starts looking at the album with a different perspective the moment title song Vaada Raha hits its first notes. Composed by Toshi-Sharib who have composed some very good songs for Bhatts' Jashnn and Raaz - The Mystery Continues in the recent past, Vaada Raha is in fact one of their best. This Turaz written track stays on within the Bollywood parameters of a love song and still comes out trumps. Now if only this film would have been a fresh project, would have been adequately promoted and boasted of a true blue romantic jodi on screen, Vaada Raha, which is excellently sung by Toshi and boasts of some really good chorus in the background, would have gone a far distance. In fact this is one of those songs that one looks forward to hearing a countless number of times in the album and hence don't mind it all when it reappears in a 'remix version' and also a Sanjoy Chowdhury composed 'theme version'.(Direct Link - Right click and choose 'Save Target As')

- Music of What's Your Raashee? is quite interestingly done. For the first time in the history of Bollywood cinema (and perhaps even internationally), a song has been created for each of the 12 characters (played by Priyanka Chopra) that are differentiated by sun signs. First to come is the title song What's Your Raashee? 'Pal Pal Dil Jisko Dhoonde'. A number with a jazz setting to it, 'Pal Pal' sees Sohail Sen coming behind the mike himself and he does a fabulous job in going along with the mood and setting of the song. Boasting of a lazy flow that gives the album just the right kick start, the song is about the lead protagonist (Harman) searching for that one girl who fits in the kind of image that he is carrying in his heart.(Direct Link - Right click and choose 'Save Target As')

- The moment one hears the sound of guitar with Shankar Mahadevan appearing behind the mike with some soft rendition, you know that you are entering a youthful zone. Add to that the gradual built up that the composer trio brings to the title song 'Wake Up Sid' and you know for sure that it's the sound of Dil Chahta Hai revisited. Does one mind that? Not at all, especially so with Loy Mendonsa's back up vocals interspersed well to add zing through the catch words - Wake Up Sid! One would have thought that Shankar Mahadevan would have reserved the title song as the best in the album. However, there is a surprise in store with Clinton Cerejo bagging the best of the lot as he goes solo with 'Kya Karoon? '. A lively number that has 'youth appeal' written all over it, 'Kya Karoon? ' is urban and contemporary with the proceedings being innocent rather than taking an attitude route. A smooth sailing number that takes the listener through the mood of the protagonist who is still trying to explore his life, 'Kya Karoon? Daddy Cool music will give you a feeling of classical music, traditional music, western influence and instrumental music. There is sweet voice of flute music also. - The soundtrack of Agyaat throws a pleasant surprise. While it certainly has a few situational tracks that are created for placement in the film's background ('Sun Sakte Ho', 'Na Koi', 'Jungle Jungle'), there is also a guaranteed chartbuster in the form of 'Kiss - Remix' with 'Jai Shiv Bum Shambu' promising to make some impression as well. A good soundtrack. What strikes immediately on looking at the inlay card is the coming together of singers who have hardly been exposed in Bollywood music earlier. Runa, Boony, Bhaven, Banjotsana, Vickeey B. Joshi, Bapi, Keka Ghoshal, Jankee, Imran - Ever heard of them? In fact the only recognizable name is that of Shweta Pandit! Nevertheless, talking about the songs here, the opening of Agyaat is as unconventional as it gets with Imran-Vikram churning out 'Jai Shiv Bum Shambu'. Written by Prashant Pandey, this one appears to be a bon fire number set in a Jungle with the entire cast coming together and partying. With a mix of Indian and Western treatment, 'Jai Shiv Bum Shambu' isn't your next anthem track in the making. However, listen to it a few times and you realise that for lounges and discotheques, this could well be an easy fodder for the DJs. Runa and Boony create a young mood for 'Jai Shiv... ' which sounds strange in the beginning but goes on to be quite addictive in some time. Aagey Se Right is an okay album which does have a couple of songs that do manage to make an impression. However, beyond 'Mahiya' and 'More Piya', there isn't much in store in this album which otherwise stays on to be strictly situational. Shilpa Rao has sung only a handful of tracks in her short career so far but has made an impression in each of her outings. Whether it is 'Khuda Jaane' [Bachna Ae Haseeno], 'Dhol Yaara Dhol' [Dev D], 'Saiyaan Re' [Salaam-e-Ishq] or 'Javeda Zindagi - Tose Naina Lagey' [Anwar], she has always been excellent. Same is the case in 'Mahiya' as well which is a fusion between contemporary Indian Bollywood music and Western rock; something that gives an extra zing to this romantic outing. Place this Hitesh Kewalya written track in any of the Bollywood biggies and it would have been a chartbuster already. - Title song 'Aa Dekhen Zara', which has it's origin in Sanjay Dutt's Rocky and has been recreated for this film, is heard in two versions. While one of these is a dance version, another is a much slower lounger version. Both the versions are created by Gourav Dasgupta and while the former is a definitely catchy and makes you hit that dance floor again, it's the second version that catches your attention most. An innovative affair, it makes you sit up and take notice of the composition due to its soothing arrangements that give the title song a different dimension altogether. - This is one album that one picks up with absolutely zero expectations. A project that has been in making for long (it was earlier titled 'Marathon'), 42 Kms is releasing at a time when the word 'marathon' is becoming more and more identifiable, at least in the metros. Still, a film that is aimed for a niche audience with music by relative newcomers (Tubby & Parik) and lyrics by Shahab Allahabadi, 42 Kms doesn't really make you overtly excited about what's in store in its music. Opening track 'Chand Zameen Pe' takes its inputs from 'Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai' [Gangster] and 'Aksar' [Hijack]. Add to it the voice of KK and you know that the inspiration here isn't coincidental. Featuring Rags & Clinton, 'Chand Zameen Pe' is an inspirational track about the protagonist's belief in conquering the world with sheer hard work and determination. A number with a Western setting to it, 'Chand Zameen Pe' may have ordinary lyrics but is perked up to an extent due to contemporary arrangements and some good singing.(Direct Link - Right click and choose 'Save Target As')

- Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar is one of the most popular movies of the '90s starring Aamir Khan, Ayesha Jhulka, Pooja Bedi, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Aditya Lakhia. JJWS is a teenage sports drama directed by Mansoor Khan (who also directed Aamir in his previous highly successful film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak). I can't remember much about the storyline and all since I watched quite a long time ago. But I do remember it was a great watch.Music of Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander is composed by Jatin Lalit. You might be wondering why am I wasting my time posting it then. Well I didn't know about it until I was half way through this post. Anyways, stay tuned 'cause I'm about to post something so many of love.
Firaaq is a art film directed by Nandita Das and stars Naseruddin Shah, Paresh Rawal, Raghuveer Yadav, Deepti Naval, Sanjay Suri, Shahana Goswami, Tisca Chopra and Dilip Joshi. The movie deals with friendship, violence and guilt and some very real human emotions. It portrays a more gruesome aspect of life, one that is unfortunately quite real for a lot of people. If you're looking for glamour and dance numbers, this film is not for you. However, if you love the art of film making and want to see some real acting and good story telling then you will love this film. I'm personally a HUGE fan of Naseerudin Shah, and I'm itching to get hold of a Firaaq DVD.

Aloo Chaat is your run-of-the-mill family story: Boy returns from America after finishing studies to his panjabi family. His family wants him to marry but he refuses to marry every girl they pick because he's in love with a girl in America. That's what all the comedy and drama revolves around. It was released back on March 20th, so if you've seen it, do let me know how it is. It's been a while since I watched any of Aftab films. Music of Aloo Chaat is composed by four different music directors: RDB, Xulfi, Vipin Mishra and Mehfuz Maruf. You'd expect the four of them to come up with something worth listening, but unfortunately they fall short of your expectations. The only notable track is the title song.

99 is a film by first time directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK and stars Kunal Khemu, Soha Ali Khan, Boman Irani, Cyrus Broacha, Simone Singh, Mahesh Manjrekar and Vinod Khanna. It's a comedy film set in 1999, and one that I'm very much looking forward to. My reasons: a) I'm a big fan of Kunal Khemu (loved his acting in Traffic Signal) and the trailer looks fantastic. It will be released on the 15th of May, so check it out. I'm pretty positive you'll enjoy it.

It was released on 3rd April and hasn't received many good reviews, though trailer looks pretty cool. Music of 8 x 10 Tasveer is composed by the Merchant brothers, Salim and Sulaiman. - In their own little way, Bajaj brothers (Shyam and Narendra) have more often than not ensured that music of their films does make an impact amongst the audience. In recent times, music of The Train and Aksar has worked while earlier on films like Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye and Bandhan too boasted of good and popular music. Now year and a half after the release of their last film Aggar, the makers return with Jai Veeru that sees Bappa Lahiri making his debut as the solo composer for a film with Sameer as the lyricist. With expectations of a just-about-decent score, one, checks out the album which eventually does manage to bring to fore at least a couple of number that leave an impression. If it wasn't for the name Bappa Lahiri on the credits, one would have imagined the opening number 'Sufi' to have been composed by Mithoon or a musician from Pakistan. The number sees an eclectic mix of Oriental and Sufi flavor, something that hasn't been explored much. With a touch of rock thrown in, 'Sufi' turns out to be a fusion number that deserves to become popular in days to come. No wonder there is a full on 'rock version' as well.

A launch pad is always looked at with keen interest. Especially so when the filmmaker here i.e. Vashu Bhagnani is someone who was once known as the 'Man with the Midas touch'. At the peak of his stint as a producer, he gave Bollywood a number of musical entertainers like Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Biwi No. 1, Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai and Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein. During his 15 years of filmmaking, Vashu Bhagnani roped in different composers for most of his films so it doesn't come as a surprise to see the names of Sajid-Wajid on Kal Kissne Dekha cover. Now when he launches his son Jackky Bhagnani along with Vaishali Desai with this Vivek Sharma directed film, expectations of a good, young and energetic musical score are tremendous. It's nostalgia time at the very beginning of the album as vintage Sajid-Wajid are heard in 'Aalam Guzarne Ko'. A kind of mushy romantic number which belongs to a style similar to that of songs in their non-film album Deewana [which featured Sonu Nigam], 'Aalam Guzarne Ko' is smooth flowing and extremely easy on ears. Billu Barber is directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Gauri Khan under the Red Chillies Entertainment banner. It tells the story of a barber Bilas Rao Pardesi (Irfan Khan) who lives in his village with his wife Bindiya (Lara Dutta) and two kids. When superstar Sahir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) comes to their village to shoot a film, Billas/Billu tells people that he and Sahir are childhood friends for which he is ridiculed. The films also stars Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani, as well as guest appearances by Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra in item numbers. Billu Barber was released on February 13, so check it if you haven't already.

- 'Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye' was a number originally composed by Jatin Lalit more than a decade back for Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge. While the composer duo has split, Lalit Pandit gets behind the scenes composing for this romantic comedy cum fantasy flick that also sees guest compositions by Siddharath Coutto. Though one doesn't really carry much expectations from the soundtrack of this film due to it's low key promotion, one is still ready for some kind of surprise considering PVR Cinema being the producers here. Sound of exuberance is heard in 'Pahle Toh Meri Inn Ankhon' which takes a peppy route and expresses the emotions of this young woman who seems to have found wings to fly around. Though it starts off quite well and has a good 'mukhda' to it, it becomes all too predictable and almost like a commercial as it moves on. Starting point for a song is good again in case of 'Sehmi Sehmi' but surprisingly the tempo isn't sustained from start to finish of the song. A number about the emergence of a girl who was just within herself before the entry of the angel in her life, 'Sehmi Sehmi' ultimately manages to maintain a constant mood throughout even as one senses vintage Jatin-Lalit in the sound. However, the 'remix version' of this song was completely unwarranted!

- During last few years, there have been two subjects that have caught the fancy of filmmakers - one revolves around superheroes, the other is centered on sports based films. While Iqbal, Chak De India, Apne and Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal have been successful and made a name for them, Say Salaam India and Meerabai Not Out have gone completely unnoticed. Now comes Victory where one expects at least one chartbuster anthem track, just as was the case in Chak De India and Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, where the title track did the trick. Let's hear on the album to see if composer Anu Malik and lyricist Syed Gulrez succeed in doing so! From a movie that has cricket as its theme, it is surprising to see a night club song at the very top of the album. 'Money Money' seems to be stuck in the 90s style of composition and one can safely assume that Anu Malik has got one of his old tunes from his backyard into Victory. Quite a worrying thought since one expected something far superior in the film's soundtrack. Thankfully, immediately arrives the 'Balla Utha Chhakka Laga', which is all set to be THE anthem track, especially in the current season when Indian cricket team is at its peak. With 'dhol' beats accompanying the song throughout a folk flavor to it, 'Balla Utha' is a chartbuster in the offering. Expect it to play not just during the cricket matches but even news channels whenever Indian cricket wins a match.

- 2 years back when Khosla Ka Ghosla had released, not many had a clue of what exactly the film was all about. To everyone's pleasant surprise, the film went on to become a success and a new director was introduced - Dibakar Banerjee. Spinning a tale revolving around middle class people, he now comes up with Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (OLLO) which is backed by UTV, the company which had also taken over Khosla Ka Ghosla. Title song 'Oye Lucky' is a kind of number which will sooner or later find itself soaring high on the popularity charts. A hardcore Punjabi number which is attached to the roots and has a rustic feel to it, it is sung by Mika Singh who seems to be clearly enjoying himself completely while rendering this one. Written by Dibakar Banerjee, Manu Rishi and Kanu Behl, this one is a racy number that can be played in marriage processions and discotheques alike (courtesy the 'remix version') and is easily the flagship number of OLLO. If 'Chak De Phatte' was a hugely popular number in Khosla Ka Ghosla, then chances are high that with good promotion and long run of the film, 'Oye Lucky' too wouldn't be far behind.

- In the past A.R. Rahman has worked on international collaborations but other than the fact that his soundtracks make big news, they haven't been known much amongst the Indian audience. This is the first time ever that one is hearing a lot about this project of his because a) it has been set in India, b) all the actors in the film are Indians, c) the film is getting a mainstream release and d) there are awards and more awards that are coming the way of not just the film but also the music. A score which was relatively unknown till a few months back, has certainly become big due to which one picks up the CD of Slumdog Millionaire with great expectations. This one is not just a versatile album but also a teasing one, as can be witnessed from the opening number 'Ringa Ringa' which is based on the the rhythm of 'Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai'. Set in a brothel, 'Ringa Ringa' hardly leaves anything to imagination and one wonders that if not for an A-grade project set-up as that of Slumdog Millionaire, the song would possibly have not gone beyond the censors. In the league of 'Choli Ke Peeche' [Khalnayak] and 'Mujhko Raana Ji Maaf Karna' [Karan Johar], 'Ringa Ringa' is as raunchy as it gets. 'Jai Ho' is the flagship number of Slumdog Millionaire and Subhash Ghai may certainly have been cursing his luck that he allowed this superb track from Yuvvraaj to be handed over to Slumdog Millionaire after he felt that it didn't suit the mood of his own film. Boasting of an amazing mix of melody and rhythm, 'Jai Ho' remains Indian at heart and is instantly catchy. No wonder, it is the lone promotional song of the film and also sees a music video being dedicated to it. Gulzar saab celebrates the spirit of love and life with 'Jai Ho' and infuses enough power in it that justifies all the nominations it is receiving today.

- A.R. Rahman is in a peculiar state today. Whatever he churns out, especially when a film is as big as Delhi 6, is expected to be huge now, especially after a powerful trail that he has left behind in 2008. Add to that a rocking beginning to the year with Slumdog Millionaire and it has to be a very bad frame of mind for Rahman to churn anything less superior. No wonder, Delhi 6 comes with expectations of the highest order, especially with names like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, UTV, Prasoon Joshi, Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor attached to it. Why such excitement about the soundtrack of Delhi 6? Well, one hearing of 'Masakali' and you know that this would be a song remembered for months to come. An instant chartbuster from the word 'Go', it has a characteristic Rahman flavor to it and sounds a unique and extremely fresh piece of music. The orchestra is kept at bare minimum and still makes a huge impact in bringing on a recollection value. Reminding of 'Pia Haji Ali' and 'Khwaja Mere Khwaja', 'Arziyan', as required by the genre, has tabla and harmonium taking it through its 9 minute long duration. The impact of this devotional track with a haunting sound is such that after a couple of minutes, a listener completely surrenders by loosing himself in the ambience created by it.

- The music for Raaz - The Mystery Continues (a.k.a Raaz 2) is released, here are the songs some of you have been wanting so much :D. As they keep claiming, The Mystery Continues is not a sequel to the 2002 film Raaz. It follows a completely different storyline. It is directed by Mohit Suri and stars Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman in lead roles. I don't think I need to say this, right?.... that it's a horror movie? Music of the movie is directed by new comers Raju Singh, Pranay M Rijia, Toshi Sabri and Gaurav Das who replaced Pritam, who replaced Neem-Sharavan. I haven't given the songs a listen yet, so I don't have anything to say except, ENJOY!

Jumbo, the animated children movie is directed by Kompin Kemgumnird. According to ScreenIndia.com, Jumbo is actually a 2006 Thai film called Khan Kluay (Wikipedia) and is already released on DVD in the US as The Blue Elephant. It doesn't really matter, but I don't see why they're trying so hard to hide that fact. There's no information on the creators of the film on any Bollywood website. Anyways, the main character is voiced Akshay Kumar. It's to be released on Christmas this year, on the same day as Ghajini. Well, now let's talk about the music of Jumbo. Can you believe this, the movie may be for kids, but there is not a single kids' song in this movie! I'm not saying the music is bad, I like the song Everything Gonna Be Alright, but it's almost gangster rap! Come on, it's a an animated movie about a cute little elephant who goes searching for his mom. But why the hell are there rap songs in there? When I found out about Jumbo, I was so happy for all the kids but I'm very said right. My complaint is not about the quality of music, but the fact that it doesn't cater to kids. Btw, the songs are composed by Ram Sampat. To all the children out there, sorry guys, you can stick to that song from Ta Ra Rum Pum for now. They'll maybe think of you next year.

- Golmaal Returns is a sequel to 2006 hit comedy Golmaal. It's directed by Rohit Shetty as well, and stars Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Celina Jaitley, Amrita Arora and Anjana Sukhani. It seems like it did really well at the box-office, both overseas and domestic. Wikipedia says it surpassed Om Shanti Om's first day collection. I'm really surprised. I saw a little bit of the film, and didn't like it a bit. And the same goes for the music, which is composed by Pritam. I posted it 'cause so many of you kept asking for it.

The music of Sorry Bhai is composed by Gaurav Dayal and Vivek Philip. The songs aren't rated high on most sites, 3/5 at best, they weren't liked that much. My personal favorite of the lot is the title song, and I don't think the rest are so bad either. I just love the composers' use of the saxophone in songs. If I had rate this album, I would say 4/5. Sorry Bhai! is directed by Onir and stars Sanjay Suri, Sharman Joshi, Chitrangda Singh, Boman Irani and Shabana Azmi. Siddharth Mathur (Joshi) and his parents travels to Mauritius for his older brother, Harsh's (Suri), wedding. In the middle of all the family chaos, Siddharth and his brother's fiance fall in love which adds fire to the flame. Sounds like a good family comedy to me, I just hope it's executed well.

- Yuvvraaj was released on 21 November, and it is liked a lot since most of the searches on this site these is is Yuvvraaj. It is produced and directed by Subhash Ghai and stars Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Zayed Khan, Boman Irani and Mithun Chakraborty. It's about relationship between the three brothers and the issue of inheritence after their father dies. I watched the movie myself, however I didn't like it much. I guess I was expecting too much beforehand. After it is a Subhash Ghai film and stars all big actors. Music of Yuvraj is composed by A.R. Rehman. I hope you like the songs. Cheers.

The film is about a not-so-happy couple, Surinder Sahni(SRK) and Taani (Anushka Sharma), who find true love while participating in a reality dance show called "Dancing Jodi". The film is written and directed by Aditya Chopra, and features Vinay Pathak, Anupam Kher and Farida Jalal in side roles. There are also guest appearances by Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra. Music of RNBDJ is composed by the Salim and Sulaiman Merchant. I hope you like them, I personally haven't listened to them yet.

Warner Bros. Pictures's second Bollywood film, Chandni Chowk To China, is directed by Nikhil Advani (Kal Ho Naa Ho, Salaam-e-Ishq) and stars Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Ranvir Shore and famous Chinese actor Gordon Liu. The trailers looks beautiful, check it out. This is something all big budget Bollywood action films should strive for. I'm putting this in the 2009 category because the movie will be released on January 16, 2009. Don't forget to watch it, it's going to be great. Music of Chandni Chowk is composed by a multitude of music directors: the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Kailash Kher and Bappi Lahiri. The songs are im mp3 format so no need convert or anything. Enjoy!

EMI is a film by Saurabh Kabra and stars Sanjay Dutt once again as a Bhai called Sattar. EMI also stars Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Malaika Arora, Ashish Chowdhry, Anil Sharma, Neha Uberoi, Urmila Matondkar and Manoj Joshi. It was rleased back in November and hasn't received as many good reviews. Music of EMI is composed by Chirantan Bhatt. I really like the song Chori Chori Dekhe Mujhko, and there are a couple of other nice songs too in this album. Enjoy!

- Rock On, Phoonk, Mumbai Meri Jaan, Welcome To Sajjanpur, A Wednesday, 1920 - Unconventional subjects have worked at the box office if one looks at the spate of releases in the quarter gone by. In the times when low/medium budget films are earning decent revenues for themselves, arrives Dasvidaniya'(that stands for 'Goodbye' in Russian) which features Vinay Pathak in the lead. Though one wonders about how songs would be placed in this unconventional film, Kailash Kher has been roped in as a composer and lyricist. In fact, he also sings each of the songs in the film! The first to come is 'Alvida' which marks a bitter-sweet beginning to Dasvidaniya. A number about living life for each of the moments lying ahead of you, 'Alvida' narrates the tale of the protagonist who only has a few more days to live and wishes to let go of all the pain around him and only look at the brighter side of the moments available to him.(Direct Link - Right click and choose 'Save Target As')

- There are some projects from which one doesn't have any hope whatsoever. Reason is simple. The initial promos of the film do not give an impression of a quality product. Nana Patekar in the lead (in spite of the film being a comedy) doesn't make one look forward to a melodious outing. Moreover, the film's title itself doesn't give one much hopes. Horn Ok Pleassss is one such project. To make matters worse, composer Lalit Pandit hasn't given one decent soundtrack ever since his split with Jatin, let alone recreate the magic of the 90's when the duo gave innumerous musical successes. No wonder, expectations are at an all time low. Now if only roping in of Neeraj Shreedhar alone could have made a song successful! With composer Pritam, Neeraj may have given a dozen odd hits by now but he would have to give the title song 'Pom Pom Pom' a pass here. This Sajid and Farhad written number has a Western base to it but the theme feel (Nana Patekar is a truck driver in the film) is hardly enticing enough to give the song a second hearing. Even though the song is complimented by a music video with Nana trying to be all hip and cool, 'Pom Pom Pom' is such a downer that one is hardly interested in it's 'remix version' as well.(Learn How to Convert RM to MP3)

- Anu Malik is having quite a few albums of his hitting the stands in recent times. While Love Story 2050 and Ugly Aur Pagli have managed to make an impression, Hastey Hastey and Anamika haven't. With Good Luck (that has music by Sameer) not quite making one feel enthused about the music, especially due to the look of the project which isn't anywhere close to being exciting, one plays on the album with hardly any expectations. It's a dull beginning for 'Main Sajda', which takes it's own time to come to the point before Sukhwinder Singh begins his rendition. However, even as the song is close to two minutes through, one still doesn't know where it is heading. The song swings between being a carnival track to a love song to a kind, which has a Middle Eastern background, and by the time Shilpa Rao comes on the scene, one is clearly bored of the proceedings. One wonders whether Anu Malik has indeed created this composition, which seems to be a kind of tune that he may have dumped in his backyard at least a decade back! - Filmmaker Anant Mahadevan has seldom gone wrong with the choice of music for his films. Ok, so Victoria No. 203 which released last year may have been an aberration but his track record over the years - Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar, Dil Maange More, Aggar and the biggest of all - Aksar - has been pretty impressive to say the least. This is why one expects a decent score in the offering, especially with Anu Malik (arriving after a hiatus) and Sameer coming together. Eventually this is what one gets in the end - a soundtrack that is just about decent! Shaan gets a solo for himself in the form of 'Shagufta Dil', which is pretty much early 90's and doesn't actually break any new grounds. Off late there have been quite a few heard-before-seen-all numbers sung by Shaan and 'Shagufta Dil' is yet another addition to that not-so-impressive list. The song tries to be all hip-n-happening with Western arrangements trying to pep up the feel but not to much avail. In the end, a kind of number that would hardly contribute to burning the charts, even in its Jatin Sharma created 'remix version', which hardly adds any value to the album!(Learn How to Convert RM to MP3)

It's directed by Sanjay Gadhvi, and also stars Sanjay Dutt, Minissha Lamba, Vidya Malvade, Malaika Arora, Amrita Arora and Rahul Dev. As the name suggests, it's about a kidnapping case. Seems like there's going to be an important competition between Abhishek's Drona and Kidnap. Trying to live up to his great performance in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na could put a lot of pressure on Imraan. I think the trailer is already out, so look it up on Youtube or somewhere. Should be interesting. Musi of Kidnap is composed by Prittam. I honestly don't have any comments on the songs, as I haven't listened to them yet. But Prittam has made some great music in the past, so I have a good feeling about this one too.
